Writing ffor your audience

No matter which medium you choose — a brochure, advertisement, Web site, news release, feature article or speech — Nokes has the expertise and flair to rouse a response from your audience, customers and prospects.

Press announcements

Poorly written press releases are the bane of an editor's existence. Deston Nokes has more than two decades of experience drafting news releases that pass editorial muster. To put your message in the best possible light, you need someone who understands what journalists want. Take a look at Nokes' Public Relations page for more information.

Web copy

Your Web site is your company's most accessible face. Shouldn't yours be more readable and useful? Nokes writes copy and designs navigation for Web sites large and small. Nokes donated his time to write and launch a Web site for a Portland, Ore., nonprofit, FISH Emergency Service Inc. (designed by Twist of Lime, a Web design firm).

Recently, Nokes wrote the Web site for Casa de las Olas in Tulum, Mexico. In addition he authored the site for Recurrent Energy, a solar energy firm headquartered in San Francisco. Nokes also rewrote and launched PacifiCorp's site (an energy company serving six western states), retooled the site for the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning (a utility philanthropic organization), and Dodge Schmitgall Inc. (an advertising agency). In addition, Nokes wrote and launched the first Web site for NW Natural (a natural gas utility).

Fundraising/Marketing collateral

Brochures and handouts should spur prospects to action, not cause them to nod off or fling them into the recycling bin. Nokes has written and refreshed marketing collateral copy for Portland General Electric, PacifiCorp, Northwest RiverPartners and others. Nokes also has crafted effective fundraising letters for the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter, Fish Emergency Service and the Beaverton Education Foundation.

Editorials

Editorials and letters to the editor are useful instruments for advocating your point of view. Nokes can help you make a statement about an upcoming election, solicit help for a community effort or simply make a point in your local paper.

Speechwriting

The only thing worse than having to listen to a droning, boring speech is realizing that you're giving one. Deston Nokes can put the right words in your mouth and help put some zip in your delivery. As a Certified Toastmaster and experienced speechwriter, Nokes has drafted everything from conference seminars and presentations, to community forums and CEO keynote speeches.

Internal and external newsletters

Resuscitate your newsletter with articles that convey your organization's personality. Nokes has produced newsletters for the Oregon Children's Foundation's SMART reading program, Oregon Health & Science University's OUTLOOK, and currently writes articles for PacifiCorp's WIRED IN and ScottishPower's ONE Magazine.
