PUBLIC RELATIONS

Nokes works with clients — within their budget — to determine the best mix of media, message and presentation.

Public relations embraces planning, ingenuity and precision. It means working with clients to streamline their messages to best achieve the desired result.

Nokes is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America and nearly three decades of experience crafting and executing public relations campaigns. Whether you have a long-term project, a program to launch or a simple announcement, Deston Nokes can help.

Current and Recent Campaigns

> Blue Sky wind power program
Nokes helped increase visibility for Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power's voluntary Blue Sky wind power program. In two year's time, PacifiCorp's renewable customer enrollments went from 6th to 2nd in the nation on the U.S. Dept. of Energy's Top 10 List of Green Power Programs.

> The PacifiCorp Foundation hired Nokes to help communicate its good works in six states. He helped the Foundation with public relations, writing, collateral development and Web site maintenance.

> Replacing lower Snake River dams would cost Northwest $413 million to $565 million annually
Nokes wrote this comprehensive report for the Bonneville Power Administration detailing the detrimental impact of removing the Snake River dams to the Northwest.

> HydroVision 2006 selected Nokes Communications to manage its press relations. The international conference hosted 2,000 attendees from 47 nations to discuss the future of hydropower.

> Oregon Renewable Portfolio Options
Nokes worked with PacifiCorp, 3 Phases Energy and The Nature Conservancy to educate Oregon consumers about their new renewable options. The campaign launch received awards of excellence from the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators.

> Combine Hills Wind Farm groundbreaking event
On a hot, dry, Eastern Oregon ridge, a groundbreaking ceremony was held to celebrate a new, 41-megawatt wind power farm. Because many couldn't attend, Nokes had to bring the importance and flavor of the event to the media.

> Making Strides against Breast Cancer 5-mile Walk
Portland is host to three, high-profile breast cancer walk events, so gaining exposure for the American Cancer Society's effort was especially important. In 2002 and 2003, Nokes worked with survivors to tell their story, and to help boost participation and donations in the annual event. The effort helped secure excellent media coverage.

"Deston is an engaging, insightful and creative thinker who knows just the right questions to ask to get the desired material for his communications pieces. I would highly recommend Deston to other firms, and hope to have the opportunity to work with him again.
